Musings...............................!
Dear Friends,
The recent murder of George Floyd on 25th May echoed the same words; ' I can't breathe', uttered by another black victim, Eric Garner in July 2014. The barbarian US Police, it seems, is very fond of killing the poor blacks in cold-blood even after their arrest. According to a survey, the number of deaths in custody is more than double as compared to the whites. This means the Police are crueler towards blacks as compared to the so-called white criminals.
If we go deeper down the problem, we find a clear cut bias towards the blacks. The cause? Perhaps, it is the feeling of prejudice in their mind towards blacks who were their slaves for centuries, not too long in the past. They cannot tolerate their well deserved and earned freedom from the clutches of whites. Still, it is heartening to note that they are not alone protesting against this cruelty. Rather, a fair number of whites are also seen protesting shoulder to shoulder with their black brethren.
The present protests in the form of violence, fire, and burning of the police-stations and vehicles are directed against the cold-blooded police force, set to violate their human rights and dignity as a race. The continued cruelty remains unhindered and unabated due to the protection provided to the perpetrators, not only by the administration but to a large extent by the judiciary too. In almost all the cases the police personals go unpunished on various flimsy grounds. That is why such atrocities are followed by large-scale violence and fires by the sympathizers of the victims.
Isn't it unfortunate that such events happen in a country that considers herself as the champion of equality, human rights, and dignity?
What rights does the US have in criticizing other countries about their racial, religious, and ethnic records and show itself as the 'moral-police' of the Universe?
